I am having problmes working the Img button I will try from a computer with an easier to understand firewall
really quick and easy project ( even I did it - ok it took me 2 tries but it works) NB it is not entirely my design. I found design for one earlier made from a space blanket and 1m lengths of pvc pipe. I think this one is easier to build and more portable
materials
1 space blanket about 85 inches in length ($4.99 not on sale) this one is silver on both sides but there are ones available with gold on one side
2 flexable tent poles 150 inches (about $13 from camping supply store)
1 Roll handymans secret weapon - Duct tape I used clear but grey will work.
4 small square rag framents.
in the photo is also a carying bag - not necessary but it wa $4 and store the thing easily
Step 1
unfold the space blanket and reinforce all 4 corners about 4-5 inches using the duct tape.
Step 2
set the square pieces of rag over the corners - not quite to the edge of the blanket = bull them out about half an inch or so. then tape over the cloth. starting from the edge of the cloth towards the outside of the space blanket - to form a pocket.
note the cloth does not extend all the way back to the edge of space blanket. I also continued the tape a bit and wraped it around the spaceblanket to what would be the reflector side just for added strength - but these space blankets are very strong and may not be necessary.
step 4
take your tent poles and create an "x" in the back by bending the tent poles and putting them into the pockets you created with cloth rag and duct tape.
step 5
figure out how to set the thing to for your light and snap a picture (I have no clue yet)
no reflector
reflector
well not the best example as the picture looks better without the reflector - I was just showing how much light you can actually reflect (this is at sunset camera facing west with the sun still a bit above my neibours house _________________ Philip Litke

Hi Philip,
This sounds like a really great DIY reflector panel! Unfortunately your pictures didn't show up in your post, so I can only use my imagination to determine what it looks like or how it's put together. You can post pictures directly to the forum (the "Upload Picture" button above the post text when you're posting) or you can include images from another place on the web like Flickr.
I'm not really familiar with space blankets. It rings a bell, but I haven't seen them. Pictures would be awesome. I really like the idea of the tent poles. Very strong, flexible, and light weight.
I did a Google search on space blanket and came to the web site for Campmor, where I could get a look at these things. They look REALLY useful! Ultra reflective and small.
Thanks for the tip! This one may have to make it's way to a main article on the site. _________________ Tim Solley

Hi: I saw your post about this - you refer to the one you saw earlier made from a space blanket and PVC. I've been trying to track down that web site. Do you remember the URL by any chance? Thanks for any help. Simon |

try this link http://www.software-cinema.com/tinkertubes/tt-book.pdf
down load the pdf file it has many ideas about PVC reflectors which you can convert to tent pools or other things.
Also do a search "Tinker Tubes" you will find a lot of ideas.

The reflector panel holder made of 3/4" PVC pipe is handy if you have a spare tripod to use. The tripod provides a stable base that can be adjust for height and tilt angle. Reflector is the collapse able type used for an auto windshield (31 x 38"). It may also be possible to build a stand from PVC. _________________ 000-330 exam | 70-562 exam | 350-018 exam |
